The Garden of Promise
Art Notes
When a close friend lost loved ones, I was amazed to see the serenity and peace that filled his heart. It was almost as if, despite the hardship of parting, he was already anticipating the joyful reunion that lay ahead. He reminded us that he would “see them again soon.” I chose a garden with a rambling stone walkway climbing up through flower hedges to illustrate my tribute to the hope many of us share of the better times that lie ahead.

We recently used this design for my sisters funeral. These are her initials on the gate even though we didn’t know there were any there. Can you tell me the story behind the RRJ initials in the gates? Her name was Ramona Ruth Jones and we were shocked and elated as there was an incident the day before her passing that she couldn’t remember her initials. We felt this was a message to us and always will. Thank you in advance for ant info.
Mary, thank you for sharing this beautiful story with us. We are very sorry for your loss, and very happy that this painting was meaningful to you and your family. Thom painted “The Garden of Promise” in loving memory of family friends that tragically passed away in a car accident. The initials in the gate were the initials of those who passed. This painting held deep meaning for Thom and for the patriarch of the family. Through the sorrow, the father took great comfort in his faith that he would meet his family again one day. Thom painted this painting for the family and for us all as a beacon of hope for joyful times ahead.
The name is Robin, Rachel and Justin who were killed in a car accident in Placerville in northern California. Our friend Paul (father) enlisted his friend Thomas Kincaid who lived in Placerville to do this painting. Paul was strong but devastated as his entire family died and was so for quite some time. He is now remarried and happy.
This picture is beautiful, it reminds me of heaven. Can you tell me if you have a print of it for sale, how much would it be? I am in Canada but hope to be in Florida for the winter and I can have it sent there if you are in the USA.
This is my favorite piece by Thomas Kinkade! It came out the year my sister died. I bought a print for another sister, as a gift, shortly after. I didn’t think to buy one for myself at the time. I’ve been looking for a decent sized print of “Garden Of Promise” for a long time, and haven’t found any. Is it not being sold anymore? I would like it to be from your company. PLEASE let me know if it is still available for sale.
Thank You,
Karyn Lewis

I just came across this web site.Actually I was looking for it. The Garden Of Promise was used on the funeral cards of my Beautiful wife of 54 years.I have carried this in my pocket everyday since Mary Ann went to be with the Angels on 5/15/12. I have her picture on the front of the card and I never leave the house without it. I can see her walking through that Garden enjoying all the beauty and waiting for me to join her. Thank you so much for this. John
John,
Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. We are sorry to hear about the passing of your wife, and we are honored that you find peace and comfort in this painting.
My dad was recently called home by our Heavenly Father (6/25/15). My dad loved to garden. He enjoyed the flowers, birds, butterflies, & all God’s creatures in his garden. So, it’s fitting to have a garden design for his Memorial Service. When I walked into a room with my family to make arrangements for dad, a beautiful garden picture caught my eye instantly, as if it was screaming “This is Dad, in the garden everywhere, full of joy!” We will use The Garden of Promise picture together with our favorite song with dad, “In The Garden”. I only wish I could find a print still available somewhere out there. Thank you for sharing Thomas Kinkade’s art with us.
Marjorie,

Again, we are sorry to hear of your loss.
I am so very grateful for this beautiful painting- more so than any words could ever describe. My childhood friend was lost in this accident. I was too young to attend the funeral services, but I vividly remember the day they left us, and there is not a single day that goes by where he or his family does not cross my mind. This painting has been such a comfort to me for over 20 years, and I know it will continue to comfort me until I pass through these gates myself. I’ll be seeing you. RRJ ❤️
