The Prince of Peace
Art Notes
How true this was for me in 1980 when, as an art student, I came to have a personal relationship with Christ. Just a few weeks later, awash in my newfound faith, I found myself sitting in an art class, my mind wandering. As I went through the motions, my eyes on the disinterested model posing for the class, I was suddenly struck with a powerful vision.

I have a “gallery proof” limited edition . I bought years ago at a small “alley way “gallery on Royal street in New Orleans ,,,,,I felt blessed to find it because it was not even hung up at the time but way in the back of the old alley , it caught my eye and I could not leave without purchasing it,,,,, I know it was a part of GODS plan because I was in the back of the alley that I would not have gone,,,, God Bless , Carolyn ??
I have a print of The Prince of Peace I purchased on a cruise. I am delighted I have it.
I have the original artist IP. I bought it for my 40th birthday (I’m now 54). I have it in a small shrine in my Catholic home with a 17th century candle stick at either side. What a blessing.
This beautiful painting was featured on QVC many years ago. I bought it for my mother and wanted to get the same version for myself.
Hello Scott,
I’m not sure if this is the exact piece you purchased for your mom through QVC, but we do have these two products available in this image. If you follow either of the links below, it will take you to the product page where you can see more information, such as size and price, on both of these products.

I love this but I have slight different version. It’s a framed prince of peace then below a cross framed in golden frames. Has certificate of authenticity on back. Please tell me what its worth
Hello Keely,
We do not offer appraisal services here. A quick way to check the value of your painting is right here on our website http://www.thomaskinkade.com and search for the title, size, and edition of your painting. Use the search feature in the upper left hand corner of the website, it is a greenish color box that says SEARCH. Type in your image name here and click enter. If you find your exact piece, click into it like you want to purchase it today. Select the same criteria that you have on your piece, size, edition and frame. This will give you a general idea of value for your piece. If you don’t find your exact piece, it has sold out. You can then select another image as long as the other criteria match, size, edition and frame to get a general idea of value.
If you need a formal appraisal for your insurance company, there are many factors that are part of an art appraisal especially when a painting is sold out, including edition, size, frame choice, condition, image availability, and the local art market. The best source for assistance in obtaining a third-party appraisal is a local appraisal firm in your area. Local appraising firms understand the secondary art market in your region and have the ability to give you the best estimate of value for your Thomas Kinkade Limited Edition Artwork.
Thank you again, and if there is anything else we can help you with, please let me know.

I have a sold out picture of the Prince of Peace” which I purchased in a small art gallery here in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, It has an oval around the face and a saying in a lined box. which reads ” For God so loved the world that he gave his only son” It also has a small plaque below the saying that says ” The Prince of Peace and below it is Thomas Kinkade. Years ago I was able to find a value for it, but the face alone is the only image I have found. I am willing it to my youngest grandson when I pass and wonder if it should be insured?
Hello Carol,
It is totally up to you if you want to insure the piece. You can reach out to your insurance company and see what they suggest and what they will need in order for them to add it to your policy.

I was given a Prince of Peace painting and have a few questions about it.
1) What does the gold cross mean on the bottom right side of the painting just above the Thomas Kinkade logo?
2) There is a tag on the back that show Canvas, Transfer, and Topcoat. What do those things mean?
3) This is a Lightpost Publishing Studios item. There is a gold plaquard on the back that says, “Limited Edition, This Thomas Kinkade Limited Edition was HandCrafted with Pride at the Lightpost Publishing Studios.” There is another plaquard that says “Authenticity Guaranteed”
Any information you might be able to provide would be most appreciated.
Thank you.
Hello Jane,
1) You might have a Gallery Proof Edition. Gallery Proofs have a gold foil remarque stamped into the front of the image and that stamp is different from image to image. Check on your certificate of authenticity to see if it shows you have a GP (Gallery Proof) for your edition.
2) These are just the steps that our production team did to make sure the piece is completely done. You can check this link on our website for more information, https://thomaskinkade.com/education/limited-edition/
3) We were known as Lightpost Publishing at one point in time. This plaque is just stating the piece was manufactured by us and that it is a limited edition piece.

Years ago I purchased this for my Mother from QVC. It was framed with the center extended. Is that version still available?
Hello Scott,
As that was a QVC item, you would need to reach out to them and see if they have it any longer. Since it has been years ago, I’m going to guess it is all sold out from them. We do not have that item any longer since it was specific to them and that specific show they did. You could always look and see if somebody has that item listed for sale on an online marketplace such as e-Bay.
