Thomas Kinkade Studios and James Gurney invite you to a special book signing event celebrating the newly expanded, remastered, and full-color edition of The Artist’s Guide to Sketching.
This exciting event will take place on March 15th from 12 PM to 2 PM at Thomas Kinkade Studio in the Garden, located on Ocean Avenue in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Guests will have the opportunity to meet James Gurney, get their books signed, and enjoy an afternoon surrounded by creativity.
Thomas Kinkade and James Gurney’s artistic journey began as college roommates at UC Berkeley in the late 1970s. They studied at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, where they hatched an ambitious idea—to travel cross-country by train, sketching their experiences along the way. That adventure led to their first collaboration, The Artist’s Guide to Sketching, originally published in 1982. More than just a how-to book, it captures the thrill of sketching on the road and the creative spirit that fueled their journey.
As a special bonus, the first 20 people to RSVP will receive a free signed copy of the book on the day of the event. Space is limited, so be sure to secure your spot early.
For questions or to RSVP, please call 831-624-3363 or email studiointhegarden@kinkade.com. We look forward to welcoming you for this memorable gathering.
