Thomas Kinkade
Thomas Kinkade, the Painter of Light™, emphasized simple pleasures and inspirational messages through his art – and the branded products created from that art. His goal as an artist was to touch people of all faiths, to bring peace and joy into their lives through the images he had created. There are moments in time that can truly define a relationship, a life—a faith. The wonderfully heart-warming movie, Christmas Miracle, is an account of one such instance in the lives of eight strangers forced to take refuge in an abandoned church during a harsh winter storm. The stories of the eight are inspirational, insightful and transcend the specific dramatic circumstance, to provide lessons in living for all those who see this movie.
In my painting of the same title, I try to capture the central message of the movie in oil. A beautiful but cold and dark winter's night greet the eye of the viewer. While the forest entices with its mystery, it also provides a sense of isolation and threat to the individual alone in its embrace. But the light beckons and provides hope and a sense of community, fellowship and humanity. There are answers to life's dilemmas from the shared wisdom of the group. And in that group, each of us is a small beacon working to bring others into that larger place of safety and concern. I hope that you enjoy Christmas Miracle, both the movie and my painting, as a gift to your heart and as a reminder we are not alone in facing the trials of life or in meeting the challenges of this world.
