Thomas Kinkade
Thomas Kinkade, the Painter of Light™, emphasized simple pleasures and inspirational messages through his art – and the branded products created from that art. His goal as an artist was to touch people of all faiths, to bring peace and joy into their lives through the images he had created. Thom’s dearest wish had always been that his artwork would be a messenger of hope and inspiration to others – a message to slow down, appreciate the little details in life, and to look for beauty in the world around us. A recent visit to Riga, Latvia, featured a chance to work with young orphans who knew nothing about art or artists. I was enchanted by the passion and purity of their openness to art.
Later, I set up my easel in the cobblestone square facing the ancient "Dome Cathedral." I realized then that I bring the same passion to my plein air painting that the orphans showed me. I truly reconnected with my inner child.
